The Search For Compression Heaven

As release time approaches, I've taken a little while to focus on improving the whole Binary Picture Show experience. For a start I've discovered that some not so computer savvy people don't really grasp the need for video codecs even if you have it written multiple times as a requirement on your download page, so I've been experiementing with WMV to replace DIVX. DIVX has been great, but it gets annoying when people don't understand it. WMV is kinda supported out of the box if u got windows, and WMV 9's quality:filesize ratio has actually impressed me quite a bit since I've been fiddling with it, so that decission is pretty much made. Ofcourse, a simple option would be to include both, but we don't have that much space.
I'm also looking into what subtitling options we have. The english subtitle effort is actually more for the few Europeans who watch our stuff and can't understand the accents rather than the Americans who can't understand them, although better knowledge of audio editing and encoding should hopefully help it all sound that little bit clearer too. Echon plans to release the updated version of EGL (with fixes) this weekend. Hopefully they'll work, and we can get to work finishing this off.
