Late but worth it
Since we did the first four episodes, I've suprisingly, still been doing a lot of Machinima work.
First, the thing I wanted to really do is FINISH the festival cut. What went off to the festival was not only badly slapped together with bland music cutting and bad sound quality, but it was also quite incomplete. Now I wish we had not entered it, cause we could have then put it in next years fest, but it would have felt like a waste to do all that rushing just to not enter.
Episode 2 is the one with the biggest need for renovation, I think, since there was a whole introduction sequence that the good guys were supposed to have.
A few delays have meant that Ep2 hasn't come out as soon as I hoped, but
1. It's worth it for the improvements, and
2. Episode 3 should be out only 1 week after episode 2 (rather than the planned two week gap).
I'd also like to get episode 4 out quickly, but that one needs an additional map (for an establishing shot) which was also never in the festival cut.
In other related news, the new site is really sweet, and we're still adding to it. I need to think of some more people to interview inbetween film releases (to keep you fans occupied while we operate). I'm also learning to paint a little, so I might in time be able to do some skins when the others are too busy (my brain is starting to feel a bit swollen though).
Animating the incomplete scenes in Bouncers has been going OK. I've been trying some new things that have slowed me down, but the results are good. As always I need to warm up my animating muscles since it's been a few weeks since doing anything intensive.
Our experimental piece, "News with Lady Mainframe" was a lot of fun, and finally the model that Eugene made (for Lady Mainframe) saw the day of light. I was thinking it would be a shame for him to have made it and then we never make the show. Maybe one day in the far future, when we need a break from Bouncers we can squeeze out another one.
I'm buying some royalty free music for Bouncers (at a VERY nice low price of course), since we're trying to make the project as kosher as possible. With any luck some of it will be in episode 2, and I also hope to change the prologue to make use of some of the new music. Spyfex (the guy whose music we were originally using) seems to have fallen off the edge of the earth so we've gone with a different guy.
And there you have it. My next post will hopefully be after release of Episode 2, which if we're lucky, is Monday the 14th.
